The church puts emphasis on sin and God's hate for it when the emphasis really belongs on God's grace, forgiveness, and love. The reason a lot of churches are empty is that we scare folks away with our teaching methods and tone. The church is a hospital, not a principal's office and the first step to helping someone get right with Christ is nurturing them with love and care. Condemning someone who doesn't already know you love them, puts them in a place where they believe it's not their issue you're condemning but, them themselves.
“When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:16-17 NIV
If you want to draw people to Christ, I challenge you to use God's love as your selling point, the history of his take on sin, as the background of this organization we call Christianity, and the benefits of repentance, grace, and mercy going forward. And watch so many more souls buy into Christ.
